About the Role This is a founding-team opportunity at a small, fast-moving healthtech AI company building evidence infrastructure for safety-critical medical imaging AI. As a Founding Forward-Deployed ML Engineer , you will sit at the intersection of research, product deployment, and clinical operations — working directly with hospital partners to evaluate and deploy medical imaging AI in real-world clinical settings. You will play a central role in bridging the gap between benchmark performance and clinical reliability, translating AI models into trusted tools for patient care. This is a high-ownership, high-impact role suited to someone who is equally comfortable writing code, navigating clinical environments, and driving cross-functional projects to completion. Work arrangement: Hybrid, on-site in Sunnyvale, CA. Travel to hospital partner sites required as needed. Visa sponsorship: Not available. What You'll Do Build reproducible evaluation pipelines and validation workflows for medical imaging AI in clinical settings. Lead forward-deployed engagements by working on-site with hospital partners to integrate models into clinical workflows. Analyze model generalization, failure modes, and uncertainty to inform clinical reliability assessments. Integrate ML models into clinical imaging systems and radiology pipelines (DICOM/PACS). Translate clinical needs into technical requirements and drive cross-functional projects through to completion. Support regulatory submissions and clinical evaluations (FDA pathways such as 510(k) and De Novo) and maintain related documentation. Ensure data privacy and regulatory compliance (HIPAA) across all ML deployments. Establish and maintain MLOps practices for deployment, monitoring, and ongoing evaluation. What We're Looking For Required (dealbreakers): 2+ years of Machine Learning / Engineering experience. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience. Requi

About the Role This company is building an AI executive assistant that operates across email, calendars, meetings, and business software. As a Data Scientist — Agent Evaluations & Quality , you will own the measurement system that determines whether the assistant is genuinely improving in ambiguous, real-world environments. You'll partner directly with AI Agent Capabilities engineers to generate the evidence that shapes product decisions, model choices, and release quality. This is a high-ownership, deeply technical role at the intersection of applied data science, LLM evaluation, and product quality — ideal for someone who thrives on turning hard, open-ended quality questions into rigorous, actionable answers. What You'll Do Architect and maintain automated evaluation pipelines that measure agent quality across product surfaces. Translate agent capabilities into explicit pass, partial-pass, and failure criteria for complex multi-step tasks. Build representative gold datasets and regression suites covering real workflows, edge cases, and adversarial scenarios. Define meaningful metrics — task success, tool-selection accuracy, instruction adherence, factual consistency, latency, cost, and reliability. Design deterministic and model-based graders, calibrate LLM-as-a-judge systems, and track grader agreement. Compare models, prompts, and implementations using rigorous offline experiments and production evidence. Analyze traces and production outcomes to identify root causes and build a practical failure taxonomy. Turn production failures into regression cases and continuously close gaps in evaluation coverage. Build dashboards and release-quality signals that make results actionable for engineering, product, and leadership. Recommend improvements to capability engineers and verify that fixes raise quality without unacceptable regressions. About the Role This is a rare opportunity to own the SDK layer of a widely adopted open-source AI engineering platform — the kind of tooling that sits at the very first touchpoint developers have with the product. The SDKs you build ship to millions of downloads per month , running in production environments ranging from serverless functions to long-running agent loops. Since 2015, Founders Factory’s 450+ portfolio companies have secured 500+ pilots and commercial contracts with our partners. Our Studio partners with entrepreneurs at day one, developing new ideas, technologies and business models into high-growth companies. In partnership with a leading global industrial healthcare partner, we are building a new portfolio of healthcare ventures. About the Venture Every hospital in Europe loses millions to a manual, error-prone coding process that hasn't changed in decades. When a patient is discharged, a trained specialist reads 20–50 pages of clinical documentation and manually translates every diagnosis and procedure into standardised codes. These codes determine how much the hospital gets paid. In Germany, 17.5 million inpatient cases per year require manual coding. 51.5% of audited cases contain errors. €2.5–3 billion is clawed back annually by insurers through MD audits. 75% of German hospitals ended 2024 in deficit. The coder workforce — several thousand Kodierfachkräfte, each requiring 6–12 months of training at ~€42K salary — cannot scale fast enough. We are building an autonomous AI coding agent that reads everything the coder reads, reasons from the official coding guidelines (Deutsche Kodierrichtlinien), and enters codes into existing hospital software — in seconds, not 35 minutes. Unlike traditional ML approaches that learn from historical patterns (and inherit their errors), our architecture reasons from the rules at inference time: when InEK publishes annual updates, we swap the guideline document. No retraining. No training data needed. Every code comes with an evidence chain and DKR citation — audit-ready by constr
