Software Engineer, Infrastructure

About the Role We're a seed-stage deeptech startup accelerating the discovery of new materials through physics-informed AI, robotics, and real-world experimental data — with a focus on the energy sector and other critical industries. Our software is the coordination layer between scientific intent and physical execution, and we treat infrastructure as a first-class product. As a Software Engineer, Infrastructure , you'll build and maintain the systems that connect AI models, automated experiments, and robotic platforms. Your work directly shapes scientific outcomes — reliability, observability, and usability aren't afterthoughts here, they're core product priorities. This is an on-site role based in Berlin, Germany . Please note: visa sponsorship is not available for this position. What You'll Do Build backend services in Python (FastAPI, Pydantic) to orchestrate real scientific workflows. Develop data pipelines that convert raw experimental output into actionable signals. Create internal dashboards and interfaces (React, TypeScript, Tailwind, Streamlit) used daily by scientists and engineers. Maintain containerized environments and CI/CD pipelines to keep systems running smoothly. Improve observability so teams understand system state proactively — before users notice problems. Drive reliability improvements grounded in real failure modes and production experience. Support job orchestration and ML systems, including integration with SLURM-based simulation clusters . Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams of scientists and engineers. What We're Looking For Required: 2–5 years of software engineering experience with solid Python fundamentals. Experience with containerized applications and foundational DevOps practices (CI/CD, Docker, etc.). Comfort working across the stack and a willingness to dig into unfamiliar territory.
